Surprise Hit!

12/27/2018 by Eileen C

I purchased this for my grandsons age 7 and 10 as an add-on quiet activity gift. In 2 days it has been played 4 times by adults. It has received rave reviews and declared it could be the best bar game (whatever that is) ever and each of the adults has said they will buy it. I can’t personally speak to the game as I haven’t played it but have been told it’s easy to learn, exciting to play and satisfying. As far as whether the kids like it the jury is out...they haven’t had a chance yet. Apparently this has a huge thumbs up!

Overall, a solid game

The game board itself is well made and quite beautiful (I upgraded to the maple). Not a big deal and does not affect game play, but then there are cheap little stickers that you have to put on the game. That seemed a bit out of place to me and cheapened the look. Other than that, no complaints. Its a simple, fun game that can be played by even large groups. I would buy it again.

Great Game

This is a great game so much fun only thing I wish it came with fake chips for betting if you didn't want to use real money

Fun Game

The board is great, the horses are a little cheap looking. Great for a group of 4 to 6 in my opinion.

Pricey for Plastic

12/2/2019 by Carroll

The plastic parts are disappointing for the expensive game. The horses should be metal or something similar. While I tried to give the review 3 stars, it kept telling me to refresh my screen and start again. So I gave it 4 to see if it would accept that review.

Game arrived just in time for a Saturday night with friends at my bar

Quality of the game was as advertised and the game itself is lots of fun especially if those playing need to buy their chips to play. Only complaint was the horses not coming with numbers on them. It was nearly impossible for me to apply stickers.

Just OK

Nicely made. 3 adults played it briefly and decided it was too simplistic. I will be returning it.

Horsey

VERY difficult to actually even get started. There must be an easier way. An instructive video would have been useful.

The Across The Board Story

Across the Board | Handcrafted Wooden Games

Classic Fun

Across The Board games are handcrafted wooden tributes to classic games that are designed to get families together. And they are made to last for many years of game night fun.

All the games—from penny hockey to horse racing to a king-of-the-hill strategy game—are straightforward and easy to play. This is deliberate because, to maker Kim McDaniel and her late husband, Ryan, it’s all about gathering family and friends for screen-free time together.

Kim and Ryan were inspired by old-school games they found at Ryan’s mom’s house. They started out in 2008 making their own games for friends in their
garage. Across The Board has since grown into a workshop, where Kim runs the show.

The McDaniels' new-but-nostalgic take on board games is one we appreciate. There are no bells and whistles, but instead you’ll find attractive, well-made wooden boards that are crafted with a keen attention to detail. And we bet you’ll also find lots of kids and grown-ups who want to play them again and again.
