Fun trivia about “Halawa” for waxing

by

Just to add an interesting tidbit. This has been used in the Middle East for probably thousands of years. It was my first waxing experience and I soon learned how to make it. It’s a bit tricky because you have to learn to recognize the smell exactly when it is perfectly cooked before the sugar starts burning. However, if you do overcook it a bit - the tried and true solution is saliva! Depending how much you’ve over cooked it determines how much spit it needs to soften! Just a bit of useless trivia but interesting. I’m sure somewhere there is a scientific explanation about exactly what in our saliva renders this magic effect but I don’t know what it is!

Keep at it! It's amazing!

by

Like the video says, it takes a few times to master it. Once you master it, the process isn't bad at all and works like a charm. I love this line - so much better than shaving every three days in the summer. I love how it works on shorter hair so you don't have to get too grimy before using it. Great product if you take the time to master it. Don't give up!!!

This stuff is great. It takes awhile to learn how to use it but it did the job. I love it!

Good stuff!

by

Tricky starting out--there IS a learning curve, just as they described! But once I got the hang of it, I love it! Excellent for lip area hair removal! Fast and efficient and relatively pain-free, just a small sting, like waxing, but not all the mess.
VERY convenient and easy to use. Extremely satisfied!

Different

Too some practice to do my legs. My legs are softer and not so dry as they would be if I shaved. Need my hair a little long and better lighting than I had. Will keep on using.

Nice

by

Was impressed how smooth my face was after using. Was difficult at first to use even after watching video. I was able though to get rid of the white hairs on my chin that I could not get with tweezers.

Gotta practice

by

It takes a while for you to truly learn it, however once you got it down it's amazing! The powder that comes with it has to be used if not, it doesn't work very well.

Not so easy

by

Still working on getting the wrist flick down. When I do a good flick, the product works well.

Response from the Maker:

Keep practicing and you’ll master the “flicking”! It does take many people a few sessions to master the technique. Start with a small amount of sugar and work your way to a bigger piece of sugar as you get it figured out. You’ll master it and never go back to your previous method of hair removal!

A little tricky to use

by

This product is a little bit messy and tricky to master. It seemed to work okay but will take a few uses to tell for sure. I am more inclined to have my esthetician take care of the hair removal for me. I will give it another try though.

Response from the Maker:

Thanks for giving it a try! It does take many people a few sugaring sessions to master the technique so don’t give up! You’ll get it down!

Disappointed

by

I found this product very hard to work with and messy. I will continue to try it and warm it up a little bit more, but the wand got stuck every time and it was hard to navigate. I really want to like this product because it is natural and much better than the chemical type product I am using and cheaper than laser hair removal.

Response from the Maker:

Sugar Me Smooth Sugar heats naturally to the body’s temperature. Make sure the sugar is sitting at room temperature (approximately 72-74 F) for several hours prior to sugaring. If it is in a cold cabinet, place on the counter and let it warm a bit. We find that if it is too cold to start with, dig it out and let the sugar sit on the skin for about 30 seconds to warm to the body. When practicing the technique, start with a small amount and work your way up to a larger amount as you master the “flicking”. Also, make sure to watch the Instructional Video, and take a look at our tips and tricks.

The Sugar Me Smooth Story

Gimme some sugar—for hair removal.

Sugary Smooth

This Made in the USA sugar hair removal formula is based on a technique that dates all the way back to 1900 BC.

Its gentle recipe is made from all-natural ingredients. Ones you know—like water, lemon, olive oil, and two types of sugar. And to make the recipe for the face version even more gentle, there’s added licorice root to help reduce irritation.

And it’s not wax—in fact, it’s quite different. Sugar Me Smooth heats naturally using your body temperature and its water-soluble formula washes off when you’re done. So it’s less painful, and there is less cleaning up to do.

You apply Sugar Me
Smooth against the hair growth, then remove it in quick, flicking motions. It only gets rid of the top layer of dead skin cells—which exfoliates you and also is gentler on skin than waxing.

Maker Michelle Hancey loved getting sugared at the salon and wanted to do it herself without sacrificing quality. Her formula gives you all-natural, salon caliber results at home.
