Wide mouth cold brew mason jar filter

Bought as a gift for my husband. Amazing how buying something can save you money. Made 3 mason jars of coffee now he has cold brew waiting for him in the fridge a heck of a lot cheapir than Starbucks or even buying cold brew at the grocery store

As indicated in the description, this filter with two ball jars brews the smoothest iced coffee I've ever tasted. What a neat little invention! Yet another way to enjoy a satisfying cuppa. Nice going, Grommet!


Works well if you follow instructions

It took me a time or two to figure out the best way to get the coffee to go through the filter, and it's all about remembering to SHAKE when you invert the jars. Merely turning it over will lead to a slow dripping process. If you give it a good shake, the straw in the filter does its "glug, glugging" work. When I do it right, the coffee all flows through in a manner of seconds. If some remains, instead of tapping, I give it another shake-- you want the airflow through the straw to do the work.

When I first used this grommet, I had mixed results but now it works every time. And the coffee is fabulous!

Sometimes this works perfectly and the resulting coffee is absolutely delicious. BUT sometimes it doesn't work at all and makes a difficult mess. So sometimes the rating is 5 and sometimes 1!!!!

Ordered the filter only since I have plenty of quart jars with lids and rings. Went by the directions but was expecting a problem getting the filter off - thought the coffee grounds would pose a problem - Nope! Worked just as described and did love the lower acid but strong cold coffee! Thanks Grommet.

My filter arrived just in time for the warmer temperatures. The results of the brewed iced coffee are exactly as described. The flavor is smooth and non-acidic, making it a pleasure to drink. I'm very happy with this ingenious method to satisfy my caffeine craving.

I love cold brew coffee--it's so much smoother and thus easier on my stomach. So when I saw this special filter, I just had to give it a whirl. I filled my large mason jar with ground coffee to about halfway between the 100 and 200 ml lines, then filled the jar with water, stirred the mixture to make sure all the grounds were wet, covered the jar and refrigerated it for about 20 hours. I found that pouring the coffee through a hand-held sieve into a large measuring cup first, and then pouring the coffee again through the filter made the process much quicker. I was amazed that the second filtering took out a lot more sediment. The end result was fantastic--a delicious, smooth coffee that tasted fresh!

The invention is awesome in its simplicity and the coffee is delicious. Flavors that one never realized existed in ordinary Columbian Coffee, will tantalize your taste buds.The only fault I find with this grommet, is that it should also come with instructions for a half-gallon jar container. I have (4) quart sized wide mouthed Mason jars and can hardly keep up with demand.
NOTE: ( You can expect to lose about 1/8 th of the resulting cold brewed coffee in your jar-- due to absorbtion by the grounds.)
