Zen Drawing

I have taken some Chinese Brush painting classes and this is a perfect gift for me and I have seen them now locally. These will be great gifts this holiday season.

Was fun

I don't still have it, but it was fun and novel.

Too expensive for this item

I really like the assortment of items on The Grommet but I do find some are very overpriced.

Sadly,not in great shape on arrival.

The concept behind the item is great. The film of the paper on the front melds back into the black board, then the marks disappear as the water evaporates. It is in fact relaxing as you just smoothly pull the brush over the board with no mess. Very easy to lose yourself in the experience of it, even while highly stressed. The packaging is also rather nice and so, if you're going to give this as a gift, you'll be pleased.

Sadly, when I received my item, there was a little splotch of glue or something on the top left hand corner, so the water cannot penetrate and it looks a little dirty, used. A little disappointing; it would have been nice to have received a clean slate. So I cannot speak on the quality of them as a whole, but I hope this is not representative.

{The Grommet response - someone form our team will be in touch with you.}

The Buddha Board Story

Buddha Board - Zen Drawing Board

Create, Reflect, Relax

It can be hard to live in the moment when we’re always juggling tasks, scheduling activities, and playing catch-up. The Buddha Board lets you slow down, let go, and savor the enjoyment of creating.

The inventor is Eric Thrall, who envisioned a way to help people embrace the Zen concept of mindfulness. His drawing board is both a meditative product and a doodling tool. When you paint on the Buddha Board surface with water, the image darkens. As the water evaporates, the artwork slowly fades. What’s left is a blank slate—literally and figuratively. When the water disappears, so do the feelings
and emotions that went into the artwork, leaving the artist with a clear mind, Eric says.

Learning to appreciate change and to value the present is important for all ages. The Buddha Board is a great tool for unleashing creativity without worrying about perfection or permanence. You can create artwork or simply doodle or practice brush strokes. The art may be fleeting, but the enjoyment lingers.
