Not perfect solution but an improvement

Good idea but doesn't really work all that great in practice. When you scrape off the gratings with a spreader you still get a glob of cold butter. Still, it's an improvement over a slice off of a cold stick.

Works Great!

I really like it. It does still take a minute or two for the butter to soften for even spreading after you grate it, but it is so much "butter" than the alternative!

Hard to turn

6/29/2015 by karon

I really like this product. The only problem I have is that it is hard to turn because I have small to average hands for a woman. It is hard to get a grip to turn it. BUT that being said, it still is a cool product!

An idea is to make a product which is vertically taller and thinner?

good idea

The concept for this is excellent and it works pretty well. I have one minor complaint and that is I find it hard to hold onto when doing the twisting. We will probably put something around it to make gripping easier.

Too big for small hands

6/27/2015 by deborah

Gave a four star for the great idea! Needs some tweaking to be as useful as I had hoped. the grip is too large around and the torque required to turn hard butter is impossible for my smaller, somewhat arthritic hands. It causes a great deal of pain for the remainder of the day and I often cannot manage to turn it at all. I cannot use this without my husband's strength and larger hands. Suggestion: make a longer, narrower model for one stick of butter inserted longways instead of the short, fat model that accommodates two halves side-by-side. then, it may be possible to be used by small women and children. Right now, this is a man's product. Would volunteer to try the new, slender prototype.

Worthwihile Product

Overall this product is wonderful and a concept that has many uses to have fresh butter readily available to be spreadable.

I do find however, at times, when turning the bottom to move the butter up, slipping occurs within the mechanism. With this however, it is still a worthwhile purchase.

I like it!

Haven't used this unique gadget yet, but it appears that it will fill a definite need in our kitchen. I'm famous for forgetting to get a new stick of butter (or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter) out of the freezer. It's not a need for every day, but when needed it will certainly come in handy!

Works as advertised

The shipping on this item was fast. The instructions on how to clean, assemble and use are clear and easy to follow. The item works just as advertised. Being 76 years of age the only problem that I noticed was that I had to work to get the screw to turn and dispense the butter. Hey I can use it as a physical hand strengthening tool along with a butter dispenser. Here I have a 2 for 1 item and didn't even realize it.

Does the job,

Works well, saves bread from being torn. Maybe could use a non-slip sleeve to help make use easier, condensation makes it slippery sometimes

Works good!

Found that it is harder to turn when it is in the fridge. I take it out a couple minutes beforehand. Then I'm neuro, and my strength is bad!

The Cooks Innovations Story

Cooks Innovations - Butter Mill & Fridge Monkey

Smooth Spreading

How often have you tried—unsuccessfully—to spread cold butter on bread or a muffin?

The Butter Mill is an innovative (perhaps magical?) device that turns cold butter into a soft spread. Simply twist it and the butter is pushed through the stainless steel grater into super fine strands. With all that extra surface area, the butter is spreadable almost instantly. When you’re done, store the Butter Mill in the fridge until the next time you need it.

From Cooks Innovations, the Butter Mill is just one of their gadgets designed to make everyday life easier in the kitchen. Another of our favorites
is the Fridge Monkey. This flexible rubber mat maximizes space in your fridge by stacking bottles and cans. Inspired by the device that reportedly held cannon balls neatly and safely on ships, the Fridge Monkey has just the right amount of give to let cans sit in the cavities rather than roll out over the lip. Stack up to ten cans in a space that would normally fit four. It works for wine bottles, too.

With these handy kitchen helpers, your butter and beverages become even easier to enjoy.
