Good product but some issues

7/9/2015 by Bobbi

I bought 6 of these, one for me and 5 for stocking stuffers for Christmas. When I tried it I found:

1. It is hard to get the red cap off. Suggest you put a tab on it that can be lifted to open it.

2. Straight out of the refrigerator makes the clear sides slightly moist and slippery. Suggest there be groves in the clear plastic part to make a more secure hold

3. And yes, as others have said, it is a bit hard to turn and if someone has arthritis or trouble with flexibility in the hands, this will be difficult

All in all, the idea is good and I am struggling through because I like the outcomes

Good idea - fussy execution

6/28/2015 by Harold

I was excited about this product...especially with summer heat around the corner. Found it complicated to assemble and disassemble for cleaning, Loading butter is also problematic. Better than rock hard butter but not as easy to use as I'd hoped.

Hard to grip and turn

6/28/2015 by Gaylene

I found it difficult to operate when the butter is right out of the refrigerator as my hands are smaller and I had a hard time turning it to get the butter out. It's a good idea but it needs some improvement.

Good idea but not great execution

6/27/2015 by Phoenix

The idea is fabulous but it is super hard to twist the base to get the butter out. The device gets greasy from the butter and is then almost impossible to turn. It needs grips the something on the turning mechanism

Great, but....

Great concept but you need really good grip strength to use it--thus only 3 stars in my rating.

Good idea, could be better

6/27/2015 by Susan

It definitely works as promised. However, it would help to have a more non-slip surface on the turning portion (since butter is slippery/oily). And it would also help to have some sort of rubber piece inside as a seal to keep the butter where it should be. Also, when putting the cold butter in, the outside plastic surface started cracking. It's a little difficult to get the butter off of the top, too. Works best to put butter on toast more than anything. But I don't eat bread. But our sons do! :)

Can't Grasp

6/26/2015 by Julie

Great idea! However, the slippery outer surface and its large diameter make it hard to grasp while you turn with the other hand hard enough for the refrigerated butter to be grated. Without redesigning the measurement of the butter or the device's insides, it would help if the outside clear plastic wasn't so smooth and slippery. Oddly, the rows of etched designs are on the inside of the clear wall. Put something like that on the outside instead!

Okay, but...

6/26/2015 by Jack

A great idea, but needs refinement. It is hard to turn the barrel right out of the fridge. The grating holes may be a bit too small, and the smooth cylinder has no kurling for grip.
Needs a 2.0 version.

Would like a smaller size.

6/25/2015 by Kathleen

Pros - more compact, neater and nicer looking than a butter dish. Very well made. Good fit and finish.

Holds one stick of butter cut in 1/2. The devise fits into the cheese/egg section of our

It looks nice on the dinner table and is a great conversation starter.

Cons - I wouldn't say the butter ribbons are soft or warm - it's still easy to get a glom of butter on cold bread.

I have trouble using e devise. I have small hands and moderate arthritis and usually give up and get the oleo tub out! Wish a one stick smaller version was offered.
I end up getting butter all over the sides of the unit!

We had two nubbins of butter left after the device would not wind any higher but they ended up in,the potatoes!

Great Invention!

I like it. I only tried it once so far. I think I pushed too much out at a time because it wasn't very soft when it came out. I think I need to take a little at a time. Great invention!

The Cooks Innovations Story

Cooks Innovations - Butter Mill & Fridge Monkey

Smooth Spreading

How often have you tried—unsuccessfully—to spread cold butter on bread or a muffin?

The Butter Mill is an innovative (perhaps magical?) device that turns cold butter into a soft spread. Simply twist it and the butter is pushed through the stainless steel grater into super fine strands. With all that extra surface area, the butter is spreadable almost instantly. When you’re done, store the Butter Mill in the fridge until the next time you need it.

From Cooks Innovations, the Butter Mill is just one of their gadgets designed to make everyday life easier in the kitchen. Another of our favorites
is the Fridge Monkey. This flexible rubber mat maximizes space in your fridge by stacking bottles and cans. Inspired by the device that reportedly held cannon balls neatly and safely on ships, the Fridge Monkey has just the right amount of give to let cans sit in the cavities rather than roll out over the lip. Stack up to ten cans in a space that would normally fit four. It works for wine bottles, too.

With these handy kitchen helpers, your butter and beverages become even easier to enjoy.
