Lousy.

6/14/2015 by Patrick

I cannot recommend this product. Even though it claims to soften the butter due to the butter being grated, the butter is still too hard to spread.

Extremely Disappointed!

6/4/2015 by Steve

When I saw this I was excited and showed it to my daughter. She almost shouted,"Order me one, too!" Well after waiting quite a while for them to come off back-order we finally got them purchases. What a joke! The butter that comes out of it is just as hard as any other way you obtain cold butter! It tears soft bread and almost tears warm toast. Doesn't even work as advertised! Grommet, you disappoint me with this. Obviously you all didn't try it out prior to selling it. If all of us that are complaining about it are doing something wrong then tell us how to make the stinkin' thing work....'cuse it sure doesn't work as advertised!!

Disappointed

5/21/2015 by Sandra

First to wash it before using (as directed), I had to take it apart and putting it back together was not easy. Second before even beginning to really use it, my husband dropped it on our WOOD kitchen floor and it shattered. Something for daily use should not be so very fragile.

Not worth it!

5/19/2015 by Rhonda

Easily spread, well, maybe. But you have to be able to get it out of the mill in order to even try to spread it. Then it's gloppy at best, still too firm for a good spread even on toast. I seriously could not turn the mill to get the hard butter out. Thinking I was just weak, I gave it to my husband to try. He had a difficult time turning it too. Definitely not one of my best kitchen gadget picks! If you're Mr. Atlas I'd say give it a try, otherwise pass on this one.

I don't like it

5/19/2015 by Janet

This gizmo is advertised as a way to get cold butter to the point of "spreadability." When the butter is cold, I am not strong enough to turn the thing (I am a normal sized woman, but my hands are too small to get a good purchase on it) and I have to get my son or husband to do it. It is easy for them, but ????

So, I thought -- well, I'll leave it out to soften it (which I could do with a regular pat of butter, but anyway, I tried it). The butter squishes all out through the whole apparatus and a little comes out the holes.

I can't imagine who tested this thing, but unless it was done by women with large hands, or men, it really is not any good. I don't recommend it at all. I bought it because I am a gadget person, and I love gadgets that work. This one does not.

I would return it, but after all the butter than has gotten all over it, I just decided to leave it in the back of my fridge until I decide to throw it away.

BIG FAIL

Needs design work

5/19/2015 by Carol

I was excited to see this on The Grommet and I bought 2 of them. Unfortunately this butter mill still needs design tweaking. It is nearly impossible to work when your hands are slippery. To operate, one must hold the smooth top (or grip the smooth sides) with one hand and twist the bottom with the other hand. As you can see from the pictures, the bottom ring is not smooth and is easier to grip. You might be able to make this work with clean hands, but not with buttery ones. If they improve the mechanics, I will buy another one to try it. If they leave it as is, I predict it's not going to be popular.

Top comes off while using!

5/19/2015 by Lillian

This would be fine if the top would stay on. As the butter rises, it pushes the top off even when we start out with the top totally in place and on tight. It is frustrating! Also, the red storage cap is extremely hard to get off and I have to use a knife to lift it off in order to try to use the butter mill. Have just about given up on using this item.!

Butter Mill

5/19/2015 by Harley

I Don't like it at all, when the butter is in it, it is to hard to turn to get any butter out. My husband even had a hard time turning it. With the condensation on the outside of it, your hands slip. I would of sent it back but threw out all of mailing stuff.

Disappointed

5/19/2015 by Thomas

I was disappointed that a standard 1/4 pound stick of butter cut in half doesn't fit inside. It's a very messy process to load the butter into the mill. After I purchased it, I read other people's reviews and learned that this product was designed for the European standard butter size, not American standard. In addition, after squeezing out the butter at the top, it still remains too cold to be truly spreadable (even on hot toast). That was the core reason why I purchased this product only to find out that it doesn't work as advertised.

Waste of money

5/19/2015 by Donna

Doesn't use whole stick of butter so wasteful, clumsy shape hard to hold, hard to thread the screw part and most of all butter still hard and tore bread.

The Cooks Innovations Story

Cooks Innovations - Butter Mill & Fridge Monkey

Smooth Spreading

How often have you tried—unsuccessfully—to spread cold butter on bread or a muffin?

The Butter Mill is an innovative (perhaps magical?) device that turns cold butter into a soft spread. Simply twist it and the butter is pushed through the stainless steel grater into super fine strands. With all that extra surface area, the butter is spreadable almost instantly. When you’re done, store the Butter Mill in the fridge until the next time you need it.

From Cooks Innovations, the Butter Mill is just one of their gadgets designed to make everyday life easier in the kitchen. Another of our favorites
is the Fridge Monkey. This flexible rubber mat maximizes space in your fridge by stacking bottles and cans. Inspired by the device that reportedly held cannon balls neatly and safely on ships, the Fridge Monkey has just the right amount of give to let cans sit in the cavities rather than roll out over the lip. Stack up to ten cans in a space that would normally fit four. It works for wine bottles, too.

With these handy kitchen helpers, your butter and beverages become even easier to enjoy.
