I have used this plate for ginger several times and garlic. Not only is this grate plate EXACTLY what was advertised, it is a great piece to leave on the counter as it is quite lovely.

I was very pleased at how well this little plate graded the Tumerick root, Ginger root and of course the garlic with ease. Highly recommend it.

I bought this beautiful piece for my Mom for Mother's Day. I got the blue color and the piece was absolutely beautiful! My Mom loved her gift. She has not used it yet, but will be very soon.

I like to grate fresh nutmeg in my coffee and this is a no-mess, easy way to do that. Makes a nice kitchen accent, too.

Easy and pretty

Up until now, I've been using a little nutmeg grater to grate my ginger for my morning ginger-lemon-cayenne drink. The Grate Plate makes the job so much easier! I can grate the ginger more finely and save my nails and fingertips while doing it. I got the teal color and it's very pretty.

The Grate Plate Story

The Grate Plate | Handmade Ceramic Grating Plate

Ceramic Grater

Deborah and Hillary Murphy spent a year fine-tuning their ceramic graters before bringing them to local farmers markets to see how folks would respond. Their beautifully handcrafted dishes were such a hit that The Grate Plate has grown and found fans beyond the Murphys' home base of Portland, Oregon.

Portland is where the mother-daughter team makes each brightly hued ceramic plate dotted with unique graters that won’t wear down over time and are gentler than metal. (Your fingertips will thank you.) Made with garlic in mind, The Grate Plate does the grating job for hard cheeses, ginger, nutmeg,
peppers, and it can even zest citrus. We like the idea of using one to prep and serve a quick garlic dipping oil for bread.

The presentation-worthy plate combines functionality and a polished finish, which also makes it a perfect gift for hosts, home cooks, or anyone who appreciates beautifully made and useful things.
