The Parade Float Case of 6

8 Reviews (4.8 out of 5 Grommets)

Sorted by Rating

I sent this to my great nieces as an addition to their goldieblox spinning machine. I'm told they tore open the package with excitement at seeing the familiar cover.

Their mother told me last summer that her daughter (kindergarden aged) had 'disappeared' for an hour, only to be found playing with their last years christmas present of GoldieBlox. That was enough of an endorsement for me to buy them another this year. I LOVE that they can build off their old sets.

How many educational toys do your children play with 6 months after receiving it? Win Win!!

Best gift for a girl!

This set is so great!!!!!! My 4yr. old got it for her Birthday. She is really into the story, and she loves all of the figures. We built the parade float together, and she has been building things with it since. We also found out that there are upgraded blox (the purple cubes)-it makes a huge difference. They were sent to us for free by the goldie blox company, with a little story about always making improvements as an engineer. Really cute. We have another set that we haven't explored as much, because she is still really into this one...I am sure it will be just as good. Fabulous gift for a girl!!

A Great Toy for Girls!

How wonderful to finally have an alternative to Barbie, Bratz, Cabbage Patch and American Girl dolls and toy pink ovens with pots and pans to gift to a girl! I bought the Parade Float Toy for my granddaughter as a birthday gift after my son was so delighted to see her unwrap something other than "princess" themed clothing and toys last Christmas at which time I bought her her first Goldie Blox "toy". This Stanford grad inventor has an important innovation here to help guide girls in other important directions, like science and math! And that is a meaningful compliment coming from this USC Trojan graduate!! Endless hours have been spent by my son with his daughter together sharing these Goldie Blox toys with each other. And that's another meaningful result of this GB purchase!!

great girls toy

My daughter enjoyed the story and building the parade float. Altogether it was an awesome experience for us. She is really into it and building great thinking skills. I canʻt wait till they come up with more stories for little girls!

More than a toy

My 5-year old daughter has spent a couple of hours designing and creating new configurations. She has also combined it with the GoldieBlox Spinning Machine to expand her options.

She has had fun and is developing critical skills.

I hope more sets come out soon!

Excellent, highly recomment

I was pleased with the purchase, my granddaughter had played with this book/kit in school and loves that she has her own. It was a lot of fun to read and do the project, I hope there are more kits out there specifically for girls.

The GoldieBlox Story

GoldieBlox - Engineering Toy

Girl Power

Meet Goldie, a girl inventor who’s smart, curious, and loves to build things. In her first adventure, Goldie makes a spinning machine to help her dog, Nacho, chase his tail. Young readers can follow along with the book and construct their own spinning machine, just like Goldie. What they’re really building is a belt drive, which is a mechanical system that uses belts as a source of motion to transmit power. But “spinning machine” sounds a lot less intimidating and more relatable to kids, which is just what creator Debbie Sterling had in mind when she created this line of construction toys and books to encourage STEM learning.

Debbie, an engineer from Stanford University, left a comfortable job to pursue her dream of getting young girls to love engineering and science as much as she does. She created GoldieBlox, which is both a book and a construction toy, to empower kids to solve problems by building simple machines. The GoldieBlox set is fun and entertaining, yet it’s also improving kids’ spatial skills and teaching basic engineering principles.

GoldieBlox is girly—the colors and themes are clearly targeted at girls. But it avoids the stereotypical traps of some other girl-oriented toys. Goldie is a problem solver, not someone who passively waits to be rescued. She’s confident, ambitious and persevering.

The gender ratio in engineering is significantly skewed toward men (as high as 89%). By introducing girls to a female engineer role model, Debbie hopes to change that, one future engineer at a time. Like the spinning machine Goldie builds, the wheels are in motion.
