Didn’t work

2/24/2019 by Monica

This was very disappointing! Was so looking forward to not having to deal with palmetto bugs here in Florida ! While trying to grab them , the bugs would run right through the bristles. Back to looking for a way to get them out without getting near them!

Flimsy

The handle broke the first time I used it. I had to run for the bug spray.

Cute But Disappointly Cheap

1/29/2018 by John

Cute and it actually worked until the handle fell apart. Incredibly and disappointingly cheap construction when compared to other Grommet products. Used it for the first time and the handle came apart. I was able to reassemble the handle (I hope properly), but the critter escaped and disappeared. Since I've already cut up the box for recycling I won't even attempt a return; now I'll be careful with future Grommet products.

Never. Gotten one yet

Well, maybe one. Toss small or weak. Maybe if it’s the right size.

Disappointing

12/2/2017 by S

I was so excited about this item, but the only thing that I managed to successfully catch was the plastic spider that came with it. Any live bug just skittered right out. It was a terrible waste of $ which is very unusual given my other experiences with Grommet.

No good

Tried it half dozen times and the only result is making critter run and hide. Tried it in cockroaches, ear wigs, stink bug. I may have caught a spider once but others got away. The tips are too weak to grasp anything.

Cheap construction

Bought this late fall, tail end of the bug season, so it got minimal use over the winter. Still the cheap plastic handle mechanism broke. Basically it's the quality of a children's novelty item and should have been priced accordingly.

Not a winner :(

This did not work at all. I tried it on two spiders and a bee and they all escaped the minute the bristles closed. My grandson had fun playing with it so it wasn't a total loss at least.

not so great

So far, I haven't had a bug to catch, so haven't been able to test the critter catcher. If I hadn't tossed the packaging, I would return it. The action is slow and cumbersome. By the time I get that trigger pulled, the spiders I get around here will be long-gone.

Good idea - but it doesn't work

8/5/2016 by Dena

When I opened it and put the trigger on the wand, and pressed the button, nothing happened. The only way I could get it to open was if I left the wand off and pushed the pole with my hands. Unfortunately, I had to send it back unused. I don't want to take a chance by ordering another one and the possibility of that one not working.

The My Critter Catcher Story

The tool for spider lovers and haters alike.

A safe distance

Whether you’re deathly afraid of crawly insects or an avid believer in their right to live, this handheld bug catcher is for you.

Squeeze the handle to open the bristles, release to grasp the bug, and squeeze again to free it—somewhere outside, we presume. The firm outer bristles help grip larger bugs (beetles, spiders, and even scorpions). Inside, the soft nylon bristles keep even smaller bugs safe.

With the long handle, you’ll enjoy a comfortable 25-inch distance from the critter. And that length also lends some leeway to grab insects in hard-to-reach spots.

Tony Allen designed My Critter
Catcher for his afraid-of-spiders son. Because spiders are helpful predators who get rid of other pests, Tony wanted a non-harmful way to catch and release.

This invention lets you declare “long live the bugs” and “keep that thing away from me” in one combined sweep.
