Love my Meater

7/5/2018 by Stacey

Used the Meater on a brisket yesterday with great success. Not only did it come out tender and juicy but I found out just how inaccurate the temperature gauge on my smoker is. I was able to monitor the ambient temperature of my smoker and adjust the airflow or add charcoal at the right time. The app is great as you can monitor the ambient temp and the internal meat temp while going about your day. No running out to check these all the time. It also shows you how much time is left to reach your ideal temperature and let's you know when there is 5 minutes left. Be sure to be there to take the meat off when the alarm goes off. Going a few minutes over could end in slightly overcooked meat.

Cool meat thermometer

7/3/2018 by Robert

I have tried several of the wired probes for temperature control while grilling and they all work a few times and then the readout display goes bad. Especially if you leave them in your outdoor kitchen drawer. They just don't last. This Smart Thermometer is a great way to overcome the failure of the wired devises. I love it and will buy more for my grilling sons and friends for birthday presents.

Works like a charm

Used it once and it turned out a perfect 4 pound Porterh0use.
Probably needed to sear it longer

Short Range

The range is inconsistent. The signal comes and goes. I still like the convenience of being wire-free.

Thermometer cannot take the heat

8/14/2018 by Susan

Thermometer cannot take the heat of a charcoal grill. Every time I’ve tried to use it it tells me to take it out because the grill is too hot. It will probably ok for the oven or stovetop.

Troublesome phone app

7/30/2018 by LAWRENCE

1. If your meat is on a grill and it flares up from fat, the Meater shouts to take it out. If you don't have fireproof gloves, don't do it. Finger burns will result. I know.
2. The Meater app on my android will not shut off. Finally had to deinstall the app to get rid of the constant notifications
3. Save your money.

Great Idea but it DOESN'T WORK

10/7/2018 by Michael

This thing can't survive the ambient temperature of a propane BBQ with he lid closed. It overheated the very first time I used it and became worthless halfway through the grilling. It is ruined and no longer works at all. The steak thermometers with the transmitter on the outside of the BBQ grill work much better. This was a total waste of money.

Disappointed - not working

8/16/2018 by Patricia

I was so excited about the idea of this product until I used it for the first time. It was working well as I was grilling a whole chicken, then all of a sudden the internal temp registered as 32 degrees while the ambient temp remained steady. I thought this was a fluke, so I tried it a second time with another chicken. The meat temp never moved off of 32 degrees and the chicken was thawed. The ambient temp registered and cooking time was tracked. Charging system is working fine.

Thermometer OK - Remote - Not Good

7/5/2018 by John

As a Thermometer, if that is what you are looking for, it is fine, but a very expensive one. As a "Remote" thermometer it fails miserably. If your definition of remote is 10' or less OK, but at 15' it looses connection and there is only intermittent connection between 10' and 15'.
There are many much less expensive alternatives to this product that are easier to use and much more dependable.

Grill Guide

MEATER is a smart meat thermometer that takes the guesswork out of getting just-right doneness when you’re grilling and roasting meat. It works in tandem with an app to ensure perfectly tasty results, every time.

The wireless stainless steel probe reads meat’s temperature and the ambient temperature in a grill or oven. The app keeps things simple and is easy to use. Choose what you’re cooking (like steak or chicken) and it will send alerts, estimated cooking times, and warnings to your phone. It’s a great tool if you’re a beginner cook or a distracted host who doesn’t want to be chained to the
grill or stuck in the kitchen.

The idea to create a more connected (but freeing) way to stay on top of what you’re cooking was sparked by co-founders Joseph and Teh-Moo at a barbecue—of course. We like how they kept the technology simple so anyone can use MEATER to get great results.
