So far, very good

Bought one for my husband-he was so satisfied with it that I bought another one for my daughter, whose soil is very tough to dig up.

Works great!

I was using a shovel to pull up my weeds. This Root Slayer Shovel makes it a lot easier. Sturdy, solid constuction too.

big patch of overgrown dietes gone

Worked great - the long strong handle, wide area for feet, narrow initial edge were exactly right for digging up the wire- like pervasive roots of the patch of clumping overgrown fortnight lillies. Didn't feel like I was going to break the handle when I pried up the clumps, could get deeper underneath them to get all of the roots up since I could jump on the foot area. Fairly heavy, very sturdy, well and thoughtfully designed.

Great product

Used Shovel the day after I received it to install a mailbox post.Easily cut through sod, hard packed soil, and tree roots. Pleasantly surprised how well it worked.

Just came in from digging up weeds. This shovel goes deep and digs up most of the root and leaves. Some roots are just too long and I can't get the entire root. You can edge with it too.

It's really saving so much time and it's the best garden tool I've used. My hats off to you. I brought the shovel into the house to store it as I didn't want anyone to steal it. I love it!!! Good for a women as it worked well for me.

Unique and practical

This little shovel does what none of the others will do - cut through the root tangle.

Sturdy and works great

Removal of baby sprout along a bush running root system work well. The heavy duty shovel and cutting blade made extraction of the sprouts and cutting of the runner very easy. The blade of the shovel was sturdy enough to pry up horizontally running roots up with no problem.

Absolutely a must for any gardener

Purchased two of these and gave one as a gift. My friends now uses this shovel (?) for everything. They say it has replaced at least 4 other tools and is just the right weight, well balanced. It gets the job done!!!

Great gift for any gardener or anyone who works in the yard. Great multi-purpose tool.

It Really, Really Works!

OMG! I was skeptical when ordering this shovel but after using it just once, I can confirm that it really works. Digging holes for new plantings in areas of existing plants cuts through the roots of neighboring plants to give a root free area for the new plant. I removed a cutoff trunk that I never thought I would get out of the ground. It's very good at removing grass sod when you want to create a new garden bed. It has so many uses.

The Magic Shovel

I have bought four as gifts after finding it amazing in transplanting large rose bushes.
Using his, a friend planted 1000 ferns in one day in the woods and 35 blooming forsythia bushes along a road side in 75 minutes. No one should garden without it. My daughter-in-law wondered why she needed a third shovel and let it sit in the garage unwrapped for four months. She is the one who gave it the name “Magic” shovel after her first try.

The Radius Garden Story

Tree roots meet their maker.

Root Removers

Radius Garden Founder Bruce Baker created the Root Slayer family of root shovels to streamline digging, chopping, and sawing while you’re hard at work in the garden. And because Bruce always has usability and function in mind, his tools are ergonomic, durable, and guaranteed to last a lifetime.

These toughened up garden tools are made from strong but lightweight carbon steel, and all have an inverted-V cutting blade that’s lined with rip-saw teeth—this is where the slaying action comes from. The blade’s design is purposefully more narrow than typical tools to give you better access and
leverage around roots. Ergonomic grips boost comfort, and there are even smart add-ons—like a twine cutter and bottle opener—built into the trowel and soil knife. These tools are a smarter way to get the dirty, root-removing job done. Read More Read Less
