Bread Dome

This is the 2nd one I purchased. One for my sister who is a long time bread maker, and one for me a novice bread maker. We are BOTH very happy with this product. It is just the right size for my wild fermented bread and for her whole wheat. The bread is beautifully crusty and has a perfect crumb - light and soft for BOTH of these usually heavy breads. We love it!! I have recommended it to all my fermentation group with the highest accolades. Easy to clean, delightful to use.

Bake crunchy bread, cook a chicken, make some stew...

Love my bread dome. Have made several batches of artisan "no-knead" bread - recipes can be found easily on the net. Works great and my family loves the homemade bread. I'm a super-mom now - not bad for a 61 year old!! Never to old to learn...

Great bakeware and doubles as a casserole dish. Good size but not too heavy.

A Must Have for Bread Bakers

I've enjoyed making two loaves of gluten free sourdough already. I can't wait to make more. I'm a fan!

the best ever!

Last week I made hands down the best rosemary chicken ever with this sassafras dome. I was able serve it from oven to dinning room table because the bakeware was as attractive as the bird. I then made chicken noodle soup with the left over meat that just fell off the bone.

I have made two loaves of the honey wheat bread which tuned out amazing too. I will never buy sliced bread again.

This was a great investment.

Works as well as they say for bread. I baked my second loaf over this weekend. So simple. Going to start experimenting. The dome makes all the difference in the crust

The Sassafras Story

Brick Oven Results.

Brick Oven Results

Making homemade bread is not nearly as difficult as you may think. In fact, with Sassafras’ Superstone bakers, you can cook breads, pies, pizzas, and meats that taste like they were made in a brick oven.

Founders Nancy and Steven Schwab’s love affair with brick oven baking started with the Etruscans. After learning about that civilization’s ceramic cookware, the Schwabs developed Superstone—unglazed ceramic that mimics a brick oven effect. The surface creates a dry, even heat that circulates around your food.

The Sassafras Bread Dome holds heat like a traditional Dutch oven, and the sloped
walls make it ideal for “no-knead” bread baking, which uses just a handful of ingredients and about five minutes of active prep time. A vent in the dome’s lid releases steam to help yield the perfect loaf—soft and yummy on the inside, surrounded by a crackly crust.

Any Sassafras covered baker is good for breads, stews and more. Since the bottoms of the Superstone bakers are glazed, they won't absorb juices. That makes for roasting juicy chickens and meats. And their pie dish creates flaky crusts as well as crispy deep dish pizzas.

You don’t need a brick oven. You just need the ancient culinary wisdom baked into Superstone.
