It's a gift but will be on my wish list

Since seeing this interesting idea I have actually purposely bought some higher quality 'dogs' and cross-hatched them. WOW, the edges carmalize, condiments sink into crevices, making it quite the taste treat. I'll never eat a non-scored hot dog again!

This is an excellent piece of kitchen equipment. We use it almost every night! Our hot dogs are juicier and better tasting then they ever were before we started using this.

Yea, Well!

Quotes from my friends. "You always got to get a new toy!" "It makes an interesting presentation - but I don't know." "Why did you buy that -- where are we going to store it?" "It really does taste better - I think." " The diamonds are cute."
"Can you use it to score a potato?" and "Did you buy me one?"

Big hit with a youth group!

I cook for a kid's camp every summer, so purchased a hot dog scorer just for fun. The kids loved it, and the dogs REALLY DO hold the condiments better. Once you get the hang of using it, the process goes smoothly.

easier than doing it by hand!

My son had started to "spiralize" hot dogs, but he likes this much better - it is fast and easy, and makes great hot dogs!

I LOVE the look.

I have always scored my hotdogs and when I saw this there was an immediate connection. I quickly ordered it. When I saw it I knew that I had to send it to my son. Now, HE BBQs and I thought with all the hotdogs he cooks this could be welcome. It was another Grommet item that I bought for myself and ended up gifting it or ordering more to gift.

Perfect summer gift

The Slotdog is the perfect summertime gift for friends!
The scored hot dogs seriously taste better!

Great way to cook a dog...

I'm funny about eating hot dogs.. I want them almost burnt. With the Hot Dog Scorer, they come out just the way I want them.
Also, my 6 year old granddaughter gets a kick out of making the "score" on the dogs.. and she says they taste so much better...

Great dog tool

I have been scoring my dogs spirally, which I saw as a Dingle Dog on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Loved doing them that way. Now I can do them more consistently with the Slot Dog. Great tool for making a good food better. I use it on all 4 sides.

The best thing for a hot dog since mustard...

7/6/2016 by Jeff

What is this crazy cheese grater-looking thing? Only the best thing to happen to hot dogs since the invention of mustard! Easy to use, does exactly what it says it will do...and all you have to do is stand back and enjoy the compliments of your family and guests at your next cook-out!

I will admit that I'm a big fan of kitchen gadgets, but this one was new, novel and has already attained a "favored status" in my culinary workshop. (What the rest of those who don't yet have their own Hot Dog Scorer probably call a "kitchen" or a "grille".)

The Slotdog Story

Why is a Canadian fixing our hot dogs?

Delicious Dogs

A freshly grilled hot dog is often the first sign of cookout season—the period when Americans consume about 7 billion dogs. But while we were busy chowing down, an enterprising Canadian created a hot dog scorer that takes those backyard meals up a notch.

Slotdog is a bladed tool that makes diamond-shaped cuts in hot dogs. These cuts create caramelized, crispy edges when they hit the grill. And those nooks are the perfect place for mustard, ketchup, and other condiments to seep down into.

Another benefit: the scored surface releases steam. Your hot dogs won’t burst or bend into unappetizing

Maker Daniel Crichton experimented with different cuts and pokes on hot dogs to try to liven them up—and ultimately created this tool that takes them in a new taste direction.

The blades on Slotdog are sharp, so be careful when you press it into the hot dog. Press on one side, flip, then press into the other, and that’s it—you’re on your way to a better hot dog.
