Will require major revision in plumbing

It arrived before the plumber & will have to wait until the loan comes through.

Great idea

However, my tub drain is larger than the 1 1/2" size thus will fit. I did not notice the pipe size mentioned when I bought it. It would probably fit my sink drain, but I don't want it sticking up.

Modifications needed

8/28/2016 by Douglas Olivares

The apartment complex where I live was built in the early 1990's. When I removed the original filter plate from my bathroom tub I discovered a cross bar that ran straight across the drain entrance about a quarter of an inch below the entrance keeping me from pushing the TubShroom down into the drain hole. I had to modify the TubShroom in order to accomplish this. It works but it would be better if the folks who make this product would come out with an additional model that takes these cross braces into account.

I sent an email to TheShroom people along with pictures of the problem. I saw no way to attache photos on your site.

I really wanted to love the TubShroom. I have incredibly thick, long hair & I've never been able to find anything to keep it from going down the drain. My go to remedy? My husband & a wire hanger to snake the drain. The TubShroom is probably perfect for regular hair. We clean it off after every shower but halfway through mine, the TubShroom is filled up & the water starts filling back up in the shower.

Too small or too large

I wanted to use it in the shower and it was to small and it is a bit large for our bathroom sink.

For small sinks

This item is too small in diameter for the shower where I wanted to use it. I'll use it in a washtub.

Works Pretty Well

I purchased this as a replacement for a wire mesh drain hair catcher to see if it would be any better. It isn't. It does catch a lot of hair, but not as much as the wire mesh, and long hair tends to escape and curl under the bottom of the device, so it has to be removed separately. However, it is much easier to keep clean than the wire mesh and looks somewhat better.

Good and bad

When I first got this product I was impressed with how effectively it caught hair in the drain. Unfortunately it didn't take long for it to mold/mildew. I've tried numerous products to eliminate this but I've been unsuccessful. I would guess that it might help to impregnate the material with something to stop this. And by the way, I clean it daily and have tried leaving out to dry between showers, nothing seems to help.

Sad dissatisfaction with the proper fit. Too small for both sink and tub openings. These are 1954 fixtures.

Great idea but it plugged up my tub with my shower water. So disappointed.

too small

It was too small to fit into my shower's drain. I am still looking for a way to adapt the drain cover on my shower to make it small enough to fit.

The TubShroom Story

The only ‘shroom you want in your bathroom.

Tub & Sink Drain Protectors

Elena Karnegie and her husband Serge were spurred to create TubShroom after one to many clogged drains. Take four humans and add two hairy pets—a German Shepherd and a shower-loving, super fluffy cat—and their house was prone to some serious clogs. Nothing they tried could catch all of the hair in their household, so they developed this easy-clean, catch-all plug. And the innovation didn't stop there. Elena and Serge wanted to help folks keep food and gunk out of their sinks drains as well, so they invented SinkShroom to help keep the water flowing all through the house.
