Can't Fail Goat Cheese

10/24/2014 by Jerry

What's not to like when the recipes can't fail? The directions are clear, the finished product is delicious.

I've wanted to try making my own cheese for years, this product helped me do just that.

The order came quickly and was well-packaged.

Great product, so much fun. The cheese was delicious, too.

Excellent fun

Who knew cheese making could be so easy! The hardest part is finding milk that's not ultra-pasteurized. This is my second cheese kit - I bought this as a gift for a friend since the one that I bought to try was so fun and easy!

Can't wait to see how the cheese turns out!

Bought this as a gift for my sister, who is a gourmet foodie. Can't wait to see how this turns out!

Fun and delicious!

So much fun, and you get to enjoy how delicious it all is when you’re done. The Parmesan is great as well. The only reason it didn’t rate a 5 out of 5 is that it was darn near impossible to find goats milk where we were living at the time.

I have made it twice. The cheese is delicious . I had to use ultra pasteurized goats milk because that is all we can get here. The curds are very tiny, but it works fine.

The Urban Cheesecraft Story

Urban Cheesecraft - DIY Cheese Kits

Cheese Making 101

When Claudia Lucero set out to try her hand at cheesemaking, she was surprised at how difficult it was to find supplies and overwhelmed by some of the special equipment that some recipes required. After all, cheesemaking has been going on for centuries. Should it really be this complicated to try in a modern home? None of us has calibrated presses, humidity gauges, and acidity testers in our home kitchens.

After lots of research and perseverance, Claudia refined her own techniques for making fresh cheeses that don’t require aging and can be made at home with little or no special equipment. Now
she’s sharing her experience with fellow aspiring cheesemakers.

With an Urban Cheesecraft DIY Cheese Kit, all you need is a gallon of pasteurized milk (not ultra-pasteurized). The kits include the rest of the supplies such as cheesecloth, a dairy thermometer, vegetarian rennet, citric acid, and cheese salt. (Supplies vary depending on the kit you choose.) Just follow the instructions, and in about an hour, you’ll have fresh mozzarella, ricotta, queso blanco, paneer, or goat cheese. Once you get the hang of it, you can have fun experimenting with different spices, shapes, and recipes. Your taste buds will love the effort.
