To cheese or not to cheese

What a lovely set.... I actually really enjoy the opportunity to make my own cheese with my husband. We lived in Italy and were always curious about the process. It is quite a learning experience. Each batch has turned out different, and I am only trying Mozzarella at this point... I love this craft and am thankful for the easy, straight forward instructions... (greater thanks for the hints, tips, and encouragement in the leaflet that even if it turns out different than first thought, it is still tasty)... I will definitely be coming back to test a new type of cheese from Urban Cheesecraft in the near future.

I gave the Urban Cheesecraft as a gift to someone in my life who is a cheese fanatic. He was so excited to receive it. I havn't heard about the final product yet but it was fun to give. Great gift idea for the foodie in your life.

This was bought as a gift for a dear niece and was very well received. I really need to consider buying more of the awesome products sponsored by Grommet for myself!! This is one I really want for me. : )

Fun and easy!

Really fun to make your own cheese. When you read the directions, they indicate you need patience and flexibility. My mozzarella has yet to form to the consistency to be stretched and braided, more like firm ricotta, but it is delicious. I added herbs to the cheese, then formed it into small balls, covered them with olive oil, and let them sit. There were gobbled up quickly. I think I need to find a better source of milk. Nothing is labelled as being high temp pasteurized. I will go to a farm this summer and get some fresh.

Love this!!! I have never made cheese before and I was afraid it would be difficult to make but this kit makes it simple! It includes everything you need! I would definitely recommend this kit to anyone who thinks they want to try their hand at making cheese! It would be a great gift as well!

Love this product. Everything I needed. Worked out great. I have made these cheeses before, but loved this kit. Would make a wonderful gift for the foodie or newcomer to cheese making. This kit, a bottle of wine and some crackers...you are good to go. Make it while your guests sit with you in the kitchen and they will marvel at your talents and it will stimulate the conversation!!!

The Urban Cheesecraft Story

Urban Cheesecraft - DIY Cheese Kits

Cheese Making 101

When Claudia Lucero set out to try her hand at cheesemaking, she was surprised at how difficult it was to find supplies and overwhelmed by some of the special equipment that some recipes required. After all, cheesemaking has been going on for centuries. Should it really be this complicated to try in a modern home? None of us has calibrated presses, humidity gauges, and acidity testers in our home kitchens.

After lots of research and perseverance, Claudia refined her own techniques for making fresh cheeses that don’t require aging and can be made at home with little or no special equipment. Now
she’s sharing her experience with fellow aspiring cheesemakers.

With an Urban Cheesecraft DIY Cheese Kit, all you need is a gallon of pasteurized milk (not ultra-pasteurized). The kits include the rest of the supplies such as cheesecloth, a dairy thermometer, vegetarian rennet, citric acid, and cheese salt. (Supplies vary depending on the kit you choose.) Just follow the instructions, and in about an hour, you’ll have fresh mozzarella, ricotta, queso blanco, paneer, or goat cheese. Once you get the hang of it, you can have fun experimenting with different spices, shapes, and recipes. Your taste buds will love the effort.
